University of Washington researcher Dr. Kathryn Baylis has been announced as the next president and CEO of the Association for Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology (AWSET). Baylis is a leader in maternal and child health research, and her work has focused on improving access to quality care for pregnant women and their children. The University of Washington has announced that Dr. Renee Hsia-Ling Chang will join the faculty as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology effective July 1, 2019. She is also nationally certified in interventional radiology for gynecological procedures.

Job qualification

The investigators will investigate causes and prevention of birth defects, preterm birth, low birth weight and other pediatric diseases. They will also look at how maternal mental health affects childbirth outcomes.

"This is an exciting opportunity for UW researchers to work together on cutting-edge projects that will benefit mothers and children across the state," Kingston said.
